Settle into Srinagar before choosing one Mughal garden for the afternoon. Nishat and a Dal-side walk make a gentle first introduction without crossing the city repeatedly. If your arrival is early enough, request a shikara towards evening; a late flight simply means a quieter welcome and the lake visit moves to another day. Leave the old-city walk for its own day so there is time to enjoy it.

Travel south through Pampore before continuing towards Pahalgam. Choose a pre-arranged grower conversation or the Awantipora heritage stop rather than treating every roadside stop as compulsory. A farm visit depends on a willing host; saffron flowers, apple picking and harvest activity cannot be promised for every autumn date. Reach Pahalgam with daylight left for a first walk beside the Lidder.

Give the Pahalgam surroundings a full day. Choose Aru for village and meadow time, or combine a shorter Aru visit with Betaab if local transport and daylight allow. Travellers who prefer fewer transfers can stay longer in one valley and return for tea beside the river. Pony activities are optional, separately agreed and dependent on a suitable operator; walking is a complete experience in its own right.

Leave Pahalgam for a considered southern-valley return. Request Achabal and Kokernag as the main garden stops, with an early start and enough time for lunch before continuing to Srinagar. Verinag can replace a stop if the driver confirms a workable day. Daksum is better treated as an extra-night extension rather than another compulsory detour on this transfer.

Take the Tangmarg approach to Gulmarg, allowing a tea break before the climb. At Gulmarg, choose a lower meadow walk or a ticketed Gondola outing, depending on weather and your interests. The final quote must identify any Gondola phase and local vehicle charges. Return with a sensible daylight buffer rather than adding another distant valley to the same day.

Spend the day close to Srinagar instead of adding another long drive. Request a locally guided walk around the Jhelum-side old city, allowing time for architecture, a bakery stop and a craft demonstration arranged with a willing artisan. Choose Nigeen-side quiet time or a Dal outing later. Dachigam may replace the city programme if permissions are confirmed; it is not automatically added to an already full day.
Day rhythm Departure and transfer
Departure timing takes priority. Extra stops are only considered after allowing a transfer buffer.
Keep your final morning flexible around your flight. A brief lakefront stop or time for shopping may fit before the arranged transfer. Confirm pickup time and allow a generous buffer for traffic and airport procedures.

Optional route ideas, quoted separately. Extra nights are additional to this 7-day proposal.
Request two nights for a slower Pahalgam stay, choosing Aru or Betaab on separate outings rather than rushing both. This may change the main route; local transport, entry charges, hotel and extra cost are quoted separately.
Ask about this extension ↗Discuss a separate Kokernag or Daksum-area night so the southern valley has its own time. The overnight base, road access, heating and return route need confirmation rather than being added to a busy transfer day.
Ask about this extension ↗Add a separate city day for Bait-ul-Meeras and one appointed carpet, weaving or traditional-art visit, or a focused shrine-and-market walk. Opening, worship, host participation and all fees must be confirmed.
